NEW : Oris Divers Sixty-Five Chronograph Bucherer Blue Edition

Oris’ Diver Sixty-Five has grown into a collection family in a number of iterations, including one that was created for charitable purposes. Now, watch retailer Bucherer have added a blue version of it to their ‘Blue Collection’ range.

The new Oris Divers Sixty-Five Chronograph Bucherer Blue Edition is related to the Carl Brashear chronograph LE. As is often the case (pun not intended), a change in metal from bronze to stainless steel lends itself to a very different watch, as does the change in dial colour, although they are both blues.

Specifications-wise it is also 43mm in size, with a water resistance of 100m. The blue dial made specifically for this edition has its colour rather attractively extended to the aluminium bezel insert and the blue stitching on the accompanying strap.

With a bi-compax chronograph dial, the ‘retro’ look nod to the original inspiration of the Sixty Five is the reason behind the faux-vintage shade of the lumed hour markers and (titanium) hands. Choosing this ‘aged’ colour look for lumed hands/ markers doesn’t always work for vintage-inspired pieces, but in this instance it seems to blend in well, and not look out of place.

Behind the engraved case back which states ‘Bucherer blue editions’ is the automatic Oris Calibre 771 (base Sellita SW 510), beating at 28,800VPH and with a power reserve of forty-eight hours.

The ORIS Divers Sixty Five Chronograph Bucherer Blue Editions has a Swiss retail price of 3, 950 CHF and is exclusively available form selected Bucherer boutiques. Go to their website at this link for further information if you wish to buy one.

Sometimes we can get a hint about what the future may bring from small editions (although not usually retailer-oriented ones). This is a pretty good looking watch in a case metal that makes it more price-accessible than a bronze chronograph, so it might be natural to ponder if there might be more standard stainless steel chronograph options coming up…
